La revue blanche (The white review) was a literary magazine popular amongst artists, writers, and intellectuals living in Paris. Named for the “white” optical effect produced by mixing all colors together, the editors sought contributions from artists, writers, and poets working in a wide variety of experimental styles. In this poster design, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec depicts Misia Natanson, the wife of an editor of the journal, who often hosted gatherings for the contributors and their friends.
