About the artwork
Artist supplied description.

Engraved ornament books boasted designs for metalworkers and other artists to copy; these could also be collected as prints. This set of eight designs was first published in Vienna. The draftsman, Friedrich Jacob Morrison, died around 1697, so this edition—engraved by Johann Andreas Pfeffel I and Christian Engelbrecht while he was still alive—must predate the final edition, as his death is prominently mentioned on the title page of that work. The otherwise identical plates include decorations such as a book cover with a minute head of Christ, a bejeweled sword hilt, fans, pendants, and other jewelry.
