Dream
Oak stump (wood sculpture)
About the Artist
Edwin Fountain grew up in Burnt Corn in Conecuh County, Alabama, and moved with his family to Seattle in 1977. He spent most of his working life as a building contractor; after a construction accident he is on disability and has since focused much of his time on wood sculpture. Fountain carves found wood and tree stumps—often using chainsaws—and his works appear in public parks and along lakefront paths in South Seattle (notably Mount Baker, Beacon Hill and Colman Park).
