Pont-de-Buis, on the Doufine, France

About the Artwork
The extension of railroad service from Paris across Brittany in northern France occurred in stages between 1840 and 1865. It required the construction of railway bridges such as this masonry viaduct which crosses the Doufine River near Pont-de-Buis. Jules DuClos shows it under construction, with timbers supporting the arches and a man standing in the river below.
