(died 1814); his sale, Peter Coxe, London, April 25, 1807, (Lugt 7229) lot 65. John Dent, Esq. (1760–1826), London; sold, his estate sale Christie’s, London, April 28, 1827 (Lugt 11429), lot 100 to C.J. Niewenhuys [Niewenhuys 1834]; sold to Richard Foster, Esq., Clewer Manor, 1827; his estate sale Christie, Manson and Woods, London, June 3, 1876, lot 138. Prince Paul Demidoff (died 1885), San Donato; offered his sale, Pillet, Le Roy and Mannheim, Florence, March 15-April 10, 1880, no. 1109, engraved, bought in; by descent to Princess Demidoff (formerly Princess Lise Troubetzkoi), 1885; sold through Durand-Ruel, Paris, June 1890, as part of a group of Dutch and Flemish paintings, many from the Demidoff collection, with funds advanced by Martin A. Ryerson and other trustees of the Art Institute [annual report 1891]; the cost of 1894.1028 was reimbursed by the George B. and Mary R. Harris Fund.
