    Oscar Hainauer (d. 1894), Berlin [see von Bode 1897, no. 31]; by descent to his widow, Julia Hainauer; sold with rest of collection to Duveen, London, in 1906 [see Paul, 1993, p. 52]. P. W. French & Co., New York, by 1919; sold to Kate Buckingham (d. 1937), Chicago [according to note in Registrar's files]; given to the museum in 1919.
