    Charles Gounod (1818-1893), Paris; by descent to his wife (née Anna Zimmermann; died 1906), Paris; by descent to her daughter, Baronne Pierre de Lassus Saint-Genies (née Jeanne Gounod; died 1946) [Washington D.C. 1999]; sold to Galerie Hector Brame, Paris, about 1942 [Washington DC 1999]; sold by Cesar de Hauke (Galerie Hector Brame) to Chauncey McCormick (1884-1954), Chicago, 1947 [Washington DC 1999]; by descent to his wife (née Deering; 1886-1965); by descent to her sons, Charles Deering McCormick (died 1994), Brooks McCormick (1917-2006), and Roger McCormick; given to the Art Institute, 1964.
