Sold, Christie's, London, April 22, 1822, probably lot 9 or 11, to Molteno for £3.5s [a letter from Noel Annesley of Christie's of November 13, 1981 in curatorial file]. William Mayor (died 1874), London [Lugt 2799]. Sir Robert Ludwig Mond (died 1938), London [Lugt Suppl. 2813a]. W. D. Austin; sold, Christie's, London, April 7, 1970, lot 86, to Beer [sale catalogue price list]. Sold by Schaeffer Galleries, New York, to the Art Institute, 1974.
