    Given by the artist to the father of the sitter, Marquis Olivier de Fleury de Blanchefort (1851–1923), Paris; by descent to his son, Georges-Marie-Prosper-Raymond de Fleury, Marquis de Fleury (1880–1960), Paris; by descent [all early provenance is according to the inscription and Burollet and Gourand]. Sold by John Lishawa, London, through Michael Simpson, London, to Joseph and Deborah Goldyne, San Francisco, 1996 [San Francisco 2006]; sold to private collection, San Francisco [according to Stephen Ongpin (see: https://www.stephenongpin.com/object/868772/0/albert-bartholome-thiverval-grignon)]; sold through Stephen Ongpin, London, to the Art Institute of Chicago, 2024.
