About the Artwork
Early in his career, Palmer made cameo portraits-gems or shells carved in low relief. The delicate carving of his marble representations of Morning and Evening can probably be attributed to his early experience with cameos.
Provenance
(Michael Hall Fine Arts, New York, NY). The Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland, OH, purchased in 1977.
