Born in Morelia, Mexico, Arreguín moved to Seattle and adopted the city as his home. After serving in the Korean War, he studied at the University of Washington under Alden Mason and Norman Lundin. He became a leading Latin American artist over a six-decade career, with work in the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and the Seattle Art Museum.
