About This Work
An abstracted landscape painting where rhythmic brushwork and color juxtaposition disrupt a clear sense of space, drawing on American Abstract Expressionism, French Fauvism, and 20th century classical music structure to create a visual experience closer to listening than seeing.
About the Artist
Sharon Wherland is an artist and violinist living in Redmond, Washington. She studied painting and music at Western Washington University and received a Masters in Arts Education at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, BC. She works as an artist and educator, regularly exhibiting paintings and collages in group and solo shows. Her painting practice draws on American Abstract Expressionism and French Fauvism, as well as the harmonic structures of 20th century classical music.
