John Bouverie (c. 1723–1750), from c. 1745; by descent to his sister, Anne Bouverie (died 1757); by descent to her husband, John Hervey (died 1764); by descent to his son, Christopher Hervey (died 1786); by descent to his aunt, Elizabeth Bouverie (died 1798; surviving sister of John Bouverie); bequeathed to Sir Charles Middleton, later 1st Baron Barham (1726–1813); by descent to his son-in-law, Sir Gerard Noel, 2nd Baron Barham (1759–1838); by descent to his son, Charles Noel, later 1st Earl of Gainsborough; by descent; sold, Christie’s, London, July 27, 1922, part of lot 85, to Parsons; sold by E. Parsons and Sons, London, to Adolf Paul Oppé (1878–1957), London, Aug. 5, 1922; by descent, to at least 1961. Sold by W. M. Brady, New York, to the Art Institute of Chicago, 2018.
