About the Artwork
A site-specific installation of hand-carved wooden envelopes paired with letters and poems written by youth in detention, exploring connection sustained across distance and circumstance. Developed in collaboration with the Pongo Teen Writing program.
About the Artist
Born, raised, and educated in Pakistan, Abid has been based in the Seattle area since 2008. Her sculptures transform everyday objects into extraordinary pieces through detailed woodcarving and miniature painting, often exploring taboos, gender, and injustices affecting women. She has exhibited internationally across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and the US.
